Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)
Plasma is responsible for the regeneration of cells thanks to the action of own growth factors and stem cells. Therapies with platelet rich plasma have been used for many years in wound regeneration or bone tissue reconstruction in orthopedics. Platelet rich plasma administered in the skin causes the release of natural growth factors which leads to:
⦁ stimulation of fibroblasts to create collagen,
⦁ stimulation of angiogenesis, formation of new blood vessels.
In aesthetic medicine, treatments with platelet rich plasma are used to:
⦁ stimulation and regeneration of skin,
⦁ reduction of wrinkles,
⦁ improve skin firmness and texture,
⦁ stimulation of the hair follicles on the scalp used in hair loss therapy.
Patient’s blood is collected and then centrifuged. This creates in a sterile tube: hemoglobin fractions and platelet-rich plasma. The platelet rich plasma is then injected like mesotherapy into the skin. The procedure takes about 20 minutes which is performed with local anesthesia cream. The treatment is minimally uncomfortable.
The skin begins the regeneration process immediately after plasma injection. The number of treatments depends on the condition of the skin and individual expectations. Typically it is recommended to have from one to three treatment sessions.
